XH16800-8 Eight-Slot Modular Core Platform

XH16800-8 provides eight service slots in Huawei's CloudEngine XH16800 family. Huawei publishes 357/774 Tbit/s switching capacity and 460,800 Mpps forwarding rate for the platform. Those figures depend on a supported full system configuration and must not be attributed to an unpopulated assembly chassis.

Right-size the card population

Start with the eight service slots and nine switch-fabric slots, then select supported MPU, SFU and LPU combinations for the required 100GE, 200GE, 400GE or later-speed design. Check exact card, optic, cable, software and license compatibility in Huawei documentation before freezing the order.

Rack integration

The data sheet lists approximately 15.8U height, 483 mm width and 985 mm depth, with a full-configuration weight of about 129.8 kg. Confirm cabinet depth and rails, front-to-back airflow, lifting access, cable bend radius and maintenance clearance rather than treating the smaller chassis as a standard shallow rack appliance.

Dual-source power planning

Huawei describes AC and high-voltage DC modes for XH16800-8 and a power entry module with 20 sockets divided between two sources. The published 30,000 W maximum is a platform envelope. Determine installed power modules and redundancy from the real card load and facility feeds.

Receiving record

Verify the XH16800-8 or XH16800-8-AH assembly identity, all installed cards and fillers, fan assemblies, power modules, PEM cabling and software entitlement. Preserve slot inventory and serials so later expansion uses compatible components.
