Huawei Switch CE16800-X8-AH

Specify the AH chassis, not a complete port configuration

Huawei identifies CE16800-X8-AH as the AC/HVDC assembly chassis for CloudEngine 16800-X8. The separately listed CE16800-X8-DC is a different power-system order. Use the full suffix when matching the order, quotation and equipment label. The official datasheet ordering table distinguishes both chassis entries.

Build a slot-by-slot equipment schedule

The X8 platform provides eight service slots. Define the required interface cards, optics and cable destinations for each populated slot, with spare capacity shown explicitly. Ask the supplier to list the main processing units, switch fabric units, power modules, fans and licenses included in the quoted assembly; a chassis code alone is not an itemized bill of materials.

For an expansion, provide the installed card inventory and software version before selecting additional parts. Require an approved compatibility and redundancy assessment for the proposed configuration rather than applying a family-wide maximum to every order.

Check the rack and electrical design

The datasheet lists X8 dimensions of 703 x 483 x 985 mm (H x W x D) and front-to-rear airflow. Check usable cabinet depth, mounting provisions, handling route and hot/cold aisle orientation. Reserve maintenance and cable space beyond the enclosure dimensions.

Have the electrical designer match the selected power modules to the available feeds, protection and redundancy requirement. Record expected operating load separately from power-supply capacity. Do not treat the AC/HVDC chassis designation as confirmation that a particular module or cord set is included.

Document acceptance before energizing

Reconcile delivered serial numbers and part codes against the agreed equipment schedule. Inspect slot population, blanks, airflow direction and grounding; then perform the approved configuration, failover and traffic tests. Retain the tested software version and exceptions with the handover record. Confirm condition, support eligibility and delivery terms in the order.
