S1720-28GWR-4X Access Switch with Four 10GE Uplinks

S1720-28GWR-4X combines 24 10/100/1000BASE-T access ports with four 10GBASE-X optical uplinks. The 4X suffix is the critical difference from the 4P variant, whose uplinks operate at Gigabit Ethernet.

Higher aggregation envelope

Huawei publishes 168 Gbit/s switching capacity and 96 Mpps forwarding for the 28-port GWR-X family. Use this model when the access design needs 10GE uplink headroom for aggregated traffic or resilient distribution links.

10GE media validation

Select supported 10GE optics or direct-attach media for the installed software and distance. Confirm connector, wavelength, fiber plant and interoperability; a 1000BASE-X transceiver plan from the 4P model is not automatically reusable.

Managed deployment

Configure management isolation, SNMP policy, VLANs, loop protection and configuration backup before service migration. Test each 10GE path at the intended speed and retain the serialized hardware and software baseline.

Procurement boundary

This non-PWR model does not establish PoE capability. Preserve the full GWR-4X suffix and verify any regional or later -E suffix separately rather than treating related catalog entries as identical.
