Fanless eight-port powered access

S1720-10GW-PWR-2P is the standard Huawei S1720GW PoE order for compact access deployments. Huawei documents eight 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ interfaces and two 1000BASE-X uplinks in a fanless chassis with an internal AC power module.

PoE allocation

The built-in power module supplies a 124 W PoE budget. Huawei states that this supports full 802.3af power on all eight access ports or full 802.3at power on four ports. A project using mixed endpoint classes should total the actual powered-device demand rather than treating eight PoE+ labels as eight simultaneous maximum-class allocations.

Optical uplink checks

The two uplinks accept supported GE optical or copper transceiver modules. Huawei also documents GPON module support beginning with the applicable software releases, with the limitation that using a GPON module prevents use of the other 1000BASE-X optical port. Confirm software, optic type and distance before quoting an uplink design.

Management boundary

Huawei's license guidance distinguishes this standard S1720GW model from the -E order: the standard family does not provide command-line operation. Select the exact management variant required by the project instead of assuming that the two identical-looking chassis have the same access method.
