Size the VM01 email deployment

The manufacturer lists one vCPU, one to four virtual network interfaces and 2–4 GB RAM for VM01. Plan the virtual machine resources and protected email domains together; mailbox count in server mode is a different measure from the protected-domain limit.

Check the hypervisor and required mode

FML-VM01 is listed for VMware ESX/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and KVM. Fortinet cautions that transparent mode is not fully supported on Hyper-V and cloud platforms. Review the intended mail flow and release-specific deployment requirements before selecting a mode.

Do not transfer larger-VM features to VM01
