FC-10-0VM01-248-02-60 is a 5 year FortiCare Premium support entitlement for one existing, registered FortiMail VM01 virtual appliance. It is not a FortiMail license, VM image, hardware appliance, security-service bundle or cloud-hosting subscription.

Before Renewal

Five-year VM01 coverage needs an explicit exception because a small virtual appliance may be retired well before the prepaid term ends. The approver should document why the workload cannot be consolidated, how the underlying host will remain supported and what event releases migration funding. Annual checkpoints must examine domain growth, queue pressure and administrator access; an unused entitlement should not be preserved merely because its commercial term remains open.

A five-year support term requires lifecycle and capacity approval. Compare the commitment with the planned FortiMail version, mail-volume forecast, hypervisor roadmap and funded migration date. Run an annual fitness check even though no annual purchase event exposes stale registration or ownership.

The long-horizon evidence file should document stranded-term risk, annual recovery checks and the trigger for moving to a different VM tier or service model. Commercial support availability does not prove that the present architecture should remain unchanged for all sixty months.

• Confirm the authorized 60 months start and end dates and any co-termination.
• Verify the VM license, vCPU allocation, software release and deployment platform separately.
• Record mail-flow role, configuration backup, recovery owner and escalation contacts.
• Confirm whether FortiGuard security subscriptions are required under separate SKUs.

Licensed Platform

Fortinet documents FortiMail VM01 with up to 1 virtual CPU, 1 to 4 virtual NICs, 1 GB to 6 GB of virtual memory and 50 GB to 1 TB of storage. These are licensed/deployment limits to verify, not resources delivered by this support SKU.

VM01 is the smallest licensed FortiMail virtual-appliance tier. Its acceptance record should identify the protected mail domains, message-flow role, hypervisor placement and backup location. A support entitlement cannot enlarge the licensed CPU tier or replace the separate FortiMail VM license.

For a compact deployment, verify that DNS, mail routing, quarantine access and configuration backup remain recoverable by a central administrator. Record the VM UUID and Fortinet registration owner so a support case is attached to the correct instance instead of another VM01 clone or trial image.

What This SKU Covers

Fortinet describes Premium as per-device technical support with web and telephone case access, firmware updates, asset-portal access and advanced replacement where a physical product and applicable RMA terms permit it. A virtual-appliance contract provides the support channel and software entitlement boundary; it does not create a physical replacement item.
