FAP-231F-E is the E regulatory-domain variant of Fortinet's indoor FortiAP-231F Wi-Fi 6 access point. Fortinet requires a country-code suffix according to the country of deployment, so E must remain visible in the order, receiving and asset records.

Regulatory intake

Confirm the legal installation country with the local Fortinet supplier before purchase. Match the delivered chassis label to the E-domain bill of materials and configure the controller for the actual site country; do not infer that a different 231F suffix is interchangeable.

Platform facts

The 231F uses service radios for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz plus a scanning radio and BLE. Fortinet publishes up to 574 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz service radio and 1,201 Mbps for the 5 GHz service radio. Interfaces include two Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB and an RJ45 serial port.

Power and installation acceptance

Plan for 802.3at PoE for normal operation. Fortinet documents an 802.3af mode with USB unavailable. Record the PoE source, mounting position, controller, firmware and post-join radio state before site acceptance.

Relocation control

A cross-country move requires a new regulatory assessment. Preserve the supplier decision, site country, serial, suffix and configured country together so later inventory work cannot separate the hardware from its approval.
