N3048EP-ON is the PoE-capable member of Dell's N3000E-ON range with forty-eight 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 access ports. Its EP suffix matters when specifying powered endpoint connections. Preserve that exact identity in the quotation rather than treating every 48-port N3000E model as interchangeable.

Allocate high-power endpoints to the documented ports

The Dell hardware guide identifies ports 1 through 12 for 60 W PoE operation when high-power mode is configured. This is a port capability with a configuration condition, not a claim that every copper port supplies 60 W or that all connected devices can draw their maximum power simultaneously. Build the endpoint power inventory and verify the fitted supplies and available PoE budget before installation.

Dell lists a 1100 W supply rating for N3048EP-ON. The chassis measures 43.5 × 434 × 407 mm in height, width and depth, with an approximate module-free weight of 6.9 kg. Confirm the offered supply count and cord requirements against the rack power plan; the supply rating must not be interpreted as a guaranteed endpoint power budget.

Keep management traffic off the access network

The guide describes a separate 10/100/1000BASE-T out-of-band management port connected to the switch CPU. Its traffic is isolated from the switched and routed operational network, and the documented management port does not apply ACLs. Connect it to a physically secure management network. For serial commissioning, the N3048EP-ON default is 115200 baud, eight data bits, no parity and one stop bit.
