PWR-3KW-AC-V2 Version 2 AC Module

PWR-3KW-AC-V2 is the Cisco 3kW AC output module for the Version 2 power architecture used by compatible ASR 9006 and ASR 9010 chassis. It is the removable power-producing module, not the A9K-AC-PEM-V2 enclosure that holds and distributes input to the modules.

AC-only compatibility

Confirm an approved V2 AC chassis and tray before ordering. This module is not a DC input device and cannot replace PWR-2KW-DC-V2. Likewise, V1, V2 and V3 modules and enclosures are separate electrical architectures; a similar physical role does not authorize cross-generation mixing.

Branch-circuit requirements

Cisco's single-phase table documents 180-264VAC input and 47-63Hz for the applicable ASR 9000 AC system. Determine plug, cord, PDU outlet, breaker and derating from the exact installation guide and site jurisdiction. Do not infer a branch-circuit rating from the 3000W output label alone.

Tray capacity is not usable load

Where supported, one V2 tray accepts up to four 3000W AC modules and therefore has a 12,000W theoretical output ceiling. The chassis power budget, card population, temperature, feed allocation and redundancy target determine deployable capacity. Calculate the required N and reserve modules rather than treating four occupied slots as proof of N+1 operation.

Software and acceptance test

Cisco introduced the component with IOS XR 4.2.0 hardware support, and the current 64-bit support table lists the exact PID from Release 6.1.2. Record module and tray PID/VID/serial, cords and feed mapping; verify IOS XR inventory, voltage/current, LEDs and alarms, then perform a controlled module or source loss test under the approved maintenance plan.
