PWR-2KW-DC-V2 Version 2 DC Module

PWR-2KW-DC-V2 is the Cisco 2kW-class DC power module for Version 2 ASR 9000 power systems. Cisco's ordering table assigns it to ASR 9006 and ASR 9010, while the electrical guide specifies 2100W output for a V2 DC module. The marketing PID and the engineering output value describe the same component at different levels of precision.

DC tray and chassis gate

The module belongs in the compatible A9K-DC-PEM-V2, not the A9K-AC-PEM-V2. Confirm the chassis is an approved V2 DC configuration, inspect tray and module PIDs and verify connector generation before insertion. An AC V2 module such as PWR-3KW-AC-V2 is not interchangeable with this DC module.

Facility input

Cisco documents -48VDC nominal in North America and -60VDC nominal in the European Community, with a -40.5 to -72VDC operating range in the chassis electrical table. Rated draw reaches 49A at -48VDC or 39A at -60VDC per module. Size conductors, protective devices, lugs, polarity checks and disconnects to local code and the exact installation guide.

Capacity and redundancy

A V2 tray can accept up to four DC modules where the chassis supports that arrangement. Four 2100W modules represent an 8400W tray ceiling, not an assurance that all capacity is available to payload. Use the Cisco power calculator and actual line-card, RSP and fabric population to determine N, then add the required N+1 reserve and map inputs across independent plant feeds.

Software and commissioning

Cisco introduced the V2 architecture in IOS XR 4.2.0, and the current 64-bit component table lists this exact PID from Release 6.1.2. At acceptance, record PID/VID/serial, tray position, input feed and breaker; verify polarity, IOS XR inventory, voltage/current telemetry and alarms, then perform an approved single-module or single-feed failure test without losing the required chassis load.
