C9K-PWR-C4-BLANK is a Cisco Catalyst 9500 power-supply blank cover for the C4 form factor. Its job is to close an unused power bay so the chassis maintains its designed cooling path; it supplies no watts and adds no redundancy.

Exact form-factor check

Before purchase, read the existing power-supply PID, switch model and hardware revision from the installed chassis. Cisco lists several blank-cover PIDs for Catalyst 9500, so a generic-looking panel or C9K-PWR-C5-BLANK must not be treated as interchangeable without an exact slot match.

Airflow requirement

Cisco requires a blank cover in every unoccupied power slot. Operating with an open bay can bypass the intended airflow and expose the interior to debris. Inspect the cover for damaged retaining features and confirm it sits flush after installation.

Change procedure

Document the active PSU and redundancy state, follow site ESD controls, keep foreign or conductive objects out of the bay and minimize open-slot time. Do not remove an active PSU under the assumption that this passive cover can replace its electrical function.

Acceptance evidence

Record the switch serial, exact C4 cover label, occupied/blank slot map and post-change fan and environmental status. If the chassis or existing PSU does not prove C4 geometry, stop and verify in Cisco's model-specific hardware documentation.
