Supervisor and capacity boundary
The chassis supports C9600-SUP-1 and C9600X-SUP-2 supervisor engines. Cisco documents up to 2.4 Tbps per slot with SUP-1 and up to 6.4 Tbps per slot with SUP-2; the chassis platform can reach up to 25.6 Tbps wired switching capacity. Capacity therefore depends on the selected supervisor, line cards and software release rather than on the empty chassis alone.

Cisco requires at least two power supplies, or at least three for a fully loaded chassis on 110V input. The C9606-FAN tray contains nine redundant fans and the chassis uses side-to-side airflow.
