C1-C4500X-F-16SFP+ Reverse-Airflow 16-Port PID

C1-C4500X-F-16SFP+ is Cisco's 16-port 10G IP Base Catalyst 4500-X with back-to-front cooling. The F position is commercially material: C1-C4500X-16SFP+ has the same port count but the opposite front-to-back airflow.

Airflow-specific receiving check

Confirm the chassis label and the matching back-to-front fan and power-supply variants before installation. Record all component suffixes and reject a mixed-direction assembly; replacing only the chassis without preserving airflow can violate the rack thermal plan.

Sixteen-port purchase boundary

Inventory the sixteen 10G interfaces, installed transceivers, any optional uplink/network module, redundant power state, IP Base/Cisco ONE entitlement and running software. The PID description does not establish that optics, module, cables or active support are included.

No direct lifecycle replacement

Cisco's table records end of sale on October 30, 2020, last support on October 31, 2025 and no direct replacement for this reverse-airflow PID. A migration design must therefore start with airflow, port media, optics, feature set and redundancy requirements instead of assuming the standard-airflow mapping applies.
