ASR1002X-36G-VPNK9 Order Identity

ASR1002X-36G-VPNK9 is a physical Cisco ASR1002-X fixed-platform router bundle at the 36 Gbps software-licensed forwarding tier. It is not a standalone software license, generic ASR 1000 chassis page or guarantee of encrypted/application throughput.

Cisco's lifecycle record describes ASR1002X-36G-VPNK9 as “ASR1002-X, 36G, VPN Bundle, K9, AES license.”

ASR1002-X hardware facts

Cisco documents an integrated embedded services processor licensed for 5, 10, 20 or 36 Gbps, three half-height SPA slots, a built-in six-port Gigabit Ethernet SPA and hardware-based encryption capability. Interface modules, optics, cords, software rights and support must still be checked line by line on the supplied quote.

VPN bundle boundary

The VPN code identifies the Cisco VPN bundle family. Encryption entitlement, export status, crypto scale and software ownership still have to be reconciled to the supplied serial and Cisco account.

36G VPN crypto-capacity review

This PID combines the highest ASR1002-X forwarding tier in this group with the VPN bundle family, but 36 Gbps does not represent guaranteed encrypted throughput.

Preserve separate clear-text and encrypted test results, crypto entitlement evidence, algorithm policy and the migration trigger for a platform that can satisfy future encryption demand.

Acceptance test

Run sustained encrypted traffic with rekey and tunnel churn, then record forwarding, CPU, loss and latency against the acceptance limit.

Crypto stress profile

Construct at least three test phases: clear forwarding, steady encrypted forwarding and encrypted forwarding during simultaneous rekeys. Use packet sizes and tunnel counts that resemble the proposed workload, then chart throughput, latency, loss, processor load and recovery time independently. Record the algorithms and IOS XE build used so results are reproducible after an upgrade. If the measured encryption ceiling is materially below the routing tier, capacity planning must use the lower tested value. Document a target platform for growth instead of treating the 36G PID token as permanent crypto headroom.
