ASR1002-X hardware facts

Cisco documents an integrated embedded services processor licensed for 5, 10, 20 or 36 Gbps, three half-height SPA slots, a built-in six-port Gigabit Ethernet SPA and hardware-based encryption capability. Interface modules, optics, cords, software rights and support must still be checked line by line on the supplied quote.

VPN bundle boundary

The VPN code identifies the Cisco VPN bundle family. Encryption entitlement, export status, crypto scale and software ownership still have to be reconciled to the supplied serial and Cisco account.

Acceptance test

Exercise tunnel establishment, rekey, route withdrawal and restoration with production-like packet sizes while recording latency and packet loss.

Tunnel portfolio control

Maintain a peer register with business owner, remote device, public endpoint, authentication method, proposal set, protected prefixes and recovery priority. Divide peers into test waves so a failed crypto or routing change can be contained. Record the expected rekey concentration and any overlapping prefixes that require policy routing or separate virtual routing contexts. Before handover, restore the configuration to a spare or lab device and prove that key references, trust anchors and route policies can be reconstructed without relying on undocumented local knowledge.
