ASR1002-X hardware facts

Cisco documents an integrated embedded services processor licensed for 5, 10, 20 or 36 Gbps, three half-height SPA slots, a built-in six-port Gigabit Ethernet SPA and hardware-based encryption capability. Interface modules, optics, cords, software rights and support must still be checked line by line on the supplied quote.

The SHA code identifies a security plus high-availability bundle family. The purchased entitlement and external HA topology must be proven by the original bill of materials and acceptance design.

10G security continuity design

This lower-tier SHA bundle is for a security plus HA order where service continuity matters more than an unqualified throughput headline.

Document the second-node design, firewall and IPsec entitlements, routing behavior, state expectations and the configuration owner. The SHA suffix alone does not supply a complete redundancy architecture.

Acceptance test

Fail the active path and verify route, firewall, VPN and log recovery against separately stated acceptance limits.

Small-site continuity runbook

Write an operator sequence for declaring the active node unavailable, confirming the alternate path, checking tunnel recovery and validating critical applications. Include management access from an independent path and the location of configuration, license and contact records. State whether firewall sessions are expected to survive or reconnect, and test that expectation instead of assuming stateful behavior. The runbook must name the person who returns service to the preferred topology and the measurements required before closing the event.
