ASR1002-X hardware facts

Cisco documents an integrated embedded services processor licensed for 5, 10, 20 or 36 Gbps, three half-height SPA slots, a built-in six-port Gigabit Ethernet SPA and hardware-based encryption capability. Interface modules, optics, cords, software rights and support must still be checked line by line on the supplied quote.

The HA code identifies a high-availability-oriented order. It does not prove that a single fixed ASR1002-X chassis contains redundant route processors or embedded services processors.

Use this PID when a compact branch or small regional edge needs a 10 Gbps licensed forwarding tier and an HA-oriented order record.

Build the design around two separately identified routers if device redundancy is required. Record first-hop, routing and state-recovery behavior between the pair; do not describe the fixed chassis itself as having dual route processors.

Acceptance test

Disconnect each WAN handoff and then power down one router while measuring route convergence, session recovery and management reachability.

Branch-pair evidence pack

Create one worksheet per appliance rather than one record for the pair. Capture serial number, rack position, power feed, management address, uplink optics and the licensed throughput shown by the running system. A topology diagram should identify first-hop ownership, routing preference and the condition that returns traffic to the preferred node. Keep a maintenance drill showing that operators can isolate the failed branch router without losing access to its peer. This evidence distinguishes an operational two-router design from a purchase description that only contains an HA suffix.
