ASA5555-FPWR-K9 Exact Hardware Identity

ASA5555-FPWR-K9 is a physical Cisco ASA 5555-X with FirePOWER services appliance. Cisco's exact ordering description specifies 8 Gigabit Ethernet data ports, AC power and 3DES/AES encryption edition. FirePOWER software subscriptions are separate term-based items; this hardware PID does not prove a current IPS, malware or URL-filtering term.

Storage and receiving boundary

Two SSDs included in Cisco's exact ordering description. The two-SSD ordering identity does not prove current signature, malware or URL-filtering entitlement; retain separate subscription evidence.

Lifecycle status

Cisco's compatibility record gives September 30, 2025 as the last support date for ASA 5555-X. Expansion of this platform is therefore not a supported long-term design.

Large policy estate decomposition

ASA5555-FPWR-K9 combines eight data ports, the larger ASA 5555-X scale and two-SSD ordering identity. Migration should divide the policy estate by security zone and application criticality.

Measure traffic, connection state, encrypted peers, intrusion events and logging demand per zone. Move monitor-only workloads first and blocking controls only after false-positive and rollback evidence is accepted.

Two-SSD and event-retention audit

Inventory both SSDs by serial, health and role, then distinguish local event storage from manager retention and exported evidence. Reconcile custom signatures, exclusions and file or malware controls with current owners; hardware presence alone does not prove those services remain entitled. For each migration wave, retain packet examples, expected alerts, connection-drain behavior and route withdrawal steps. Close the old zone only when data owners confirm both successful business transactions and the intended security denials.
