ASA5545-K9 Exact Firewall Edition Scope

ASA5545-K9 is the Cisco ASA 5545-X Firewall Edition appliance with 3DES/AES. Cisco's exact order line includes firewall services, 2,500 IPsec VPN peers and 2 SSL VPN peers in Cisco's ordering description, Active/Active high availability and two security contexts.

Interfaces and power in this PID

Eight copper Gigabit Ethernet data ports and one copper Gigabit Ethernet management port and One AC power supply are documented for this K9 edition. The CU-2AC, IPS, FirePOWER and SSD bundle PIDs are different orders; their extra interfaces, redundant power, subscriptions or storage must not be attributed to ASA5545-K9.

Higher VPN-scale selection

The 5545-X is the higher VPN-scale member of this pair. Do not substitute ASA5525-K9 when the accepted design depends on the 2,500-peer platform limit. Record concurrent sessions, new connections, encrypted traffic, inspection features and failover load before choosing replacement capacity.

Support has ended

Cisco ended sale of the affected hardware on September 4, 2020 and lists September 30, 2025 as the last date of support. In 2026 this should be treated as legacy equipment: verify software version, entitlement history, configuration export, power-supply condition and an approved migration plan before deployment.

Receiving and migration gate

Match the chassis label and serial to ASA5545-K9, test both data and management ports, confirm 3DES/AES licensing and review known vulnerabilities for the installed ASA release. Compare the lower-scale ASA5525-K9 only when its measured capacity is acceptable.
