AIR-AP1852I-I-K9 I-Domain Controller AP

AIR-AP1852I-I-K9 is the I-domain controller-based Aironet 1852i. The internal-antenna AP provides 3x4:3 at 2.4 GHz, 4x4:4 802.11ac Wave 2 at 5 GHz, one PoE Gigabit uplink and a second Gigabit AUX interface.

I-domain single 5 GHz block

Cisco's I-domain row lists 2.412-2.472 GHz and only eight 5 GHz channels from 5.180-5.320 GHz. It does not publish the middle or upper blocks available to AIR-AP1852I-S-K9. Verify country approval and controller country before accepting this regulatory variant.

Controller join evidence

The K9 suffix denotes the controller-based order, not a factory Mobility Express K9C image. Stage the AP against the target controller and save discovery, CAPWAP join, certificate, AP-group, code-download and rollback evidence. A physical power-on test alone does not prove interoperability.

Reduced-power behavior

With 802.3af input, Cisco disables the AUX Ethernet and USB ports on the 1852i. Record PSE negotiation before testing link aggregation, then verify the main uplink, radio chains, bracket, integrated-antenna enclosure and coverage.

Lifecycle check

The exact I-domain PID is listed in Cisco's retirement bulletin. Software maintenance ended 1 May 2023; service renewal ends 27 July 2026 and final support is 30 April 2027. Confirm active entitlement or plan migration to Catalyst 9115AX.
