Compact PoE access with Gigabit uplinks

The R8N89A layout serves 12 Gigabit copper access connections and provides two additional 1GbE connections plus two 1G SFP interfaces. The optical uplinks are Gigabit, unlike the faster uplinks on certain CX 6100 products. Use the exact model rather than a similar-looking enclosure when selecting link speeds.

Work within a shared 139 W allowance

IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at support is documented alongside an aggregate Class 4 PoE budget of up to 139 W. Add the intended endpoint requirements and reserve suitable headroom. This number is the power available to devices collectively; it is not a per-port allocation or the switch’s total electrical input figure.

Fanless does not eliminate installation requirements

The official R8N89A column lists fanless cooling, a fixed power supply and a 2.78 kg configuration weight. Its height, width and depth are 4.39, 25.4 and 25.5 cm. Check the intended support surface, cable routing and manufacturer installation clearances, rather than using the small chassis size as permission to enclose it without ventilation.

Use the documented revision-A resources

The manufacturer’s exact-model specifications list 32 Gbps switching capacity, 23.8 Mpps throughput, 4 GB DDR3 and 16 GB eMMC. These are R8N89A values; a family-level memory maximum or later R8N89B listing is not the specification of this order.

Confirm accessories and management requirements

State the complete A-suffix model, the powered-device schedule and required copper or fiber uplinks on the quotation. USB-C console and USB Type-A host interfaces are documented. Confirm the actual mounting kit, regional power cord, installed software, condition and support eligibility before purchase. Optical modules and management subscriptions are not asserted as included.
