Start with the base packing list

Juniper separates the chassis order from the Flexible PIC Concentrators, or line cards, that provide the required interfaces. Its BASE configuration table lists one QFX5700-RCB, one QFX5700-FEB, two power supplies and two JNP5700-FAN trays, together with chassis and accessory items. Reconcile the supplied serial-numbered equipment with that packing list before accepting the order.

Do not equate a base chassis with populated ports

The QFX5700 platform is a 5-U modular design with line-card slots numbered 0 through 7. Port speeds and usable interface counts depend on the separately selected line cards and transceivers. A quotation for this base configuration must therefore identify those additional items; a platform capacity figure is not an inventory of ports delivered by the base order.

Apply the BASE power rule

The dedicated power-system chapter specifies 1+1 PSU redundancy for the BASE configuration with one RCB and one FEB. It permits the pair to connect to the same source or two separate sources. Assess the intended site power arrangement and do not mix AC/HVDC and DC power supply models in the chassis. The packing list contains two power supplies and two power-slot blanks.

Record software and fulfillment boundaries

QFX5700 runs Junos OS Evolved. Confirm the required software entitlement, line cards, optics, power cords and condition on an itemized quotation. The installation guide describes manufacturer configurations, not current seller stock or guaranteed inclusion of accessories in a particular offered unit.
