NFX250-S1E Enhanced Storage and Recovery

NFX250-S1E pairs a six-core Intel CPU and 16GB RAM with a 200GB primary SSD and a 25GB secondary SSD. Juniper states that the device can boot from the secondary SSD if the primary drive fails or becomes corrupted.

S1E-specific service profile

Juniper separately documents Secure Router functionality up to 100Mbps for IPSec VPN, NAT, stateful firewall and routing services such as BGP, OSPF, DHCP, IPv4 and IPv6. Treat the throughput statement as that documented profile, not as total switching or SFP+ line-rate performance.

Compute limit

Like NFX250-S1, S1E has 16GB total memory, and Juniper's cited NextGen table lists 6GB available for VNF use in the referenced mode/release. The extra primary storage and recovery SSD do not make its guest-memory capacity equal to NFX250-S2.

Recovery acceptance

Test and document primary/secondary storage health without forcing an unsafe failure in production. Preserve image, configuration and backup procedures for both normal boot and recovery. Confirm JDM/JCP release support before assuming automatic recovery behavior across software generations.

Network and airflow check

Map all copper, SFP and SFP+ interfaces, validate optics in Juniper's compatibility tool and reserve the management and console paths. Confirm built-in AC input and front-to-back airflow fit the rack. Record PID, serial, RAM, both SSDs, mode and Secure Router requirement during receiving.
