NFX250-S1 Base Compute Profile

NFX250-S1 is the 16GB RAM, 100GB SSD member of Juniper's NFX250 virtualized network-services platform. It combines a six-core Intel control plane with access, SFP and SFP+ interfaces, AC power and front-to-back forced cooling.

Resource boundary

Juniper's current NextGen VNF guidance lists 6GB of memory available for VNF use on this 16GB model in the referenced release/mode context, versus 22GB on NFX250-S2. Size every VNF from the deployed Junos release and actual mode; total appliance RAM is not all assignable guest memory.

Storage and image planning

The 100GB SSD must hold the platform software, logs and approved VNF images within Juniper's allocation rules. Inventory image sizes, log retention and rollback space before onboarding workloads. Select NFX250-S1E when its documented 200GB primary plus secondary boot SSD and Secure Router profile match the design.

Port-map acceptance

Record use of the eight access ports, two flexible RJ-45 access/uplink ports, two SFP and two SFP+ uplinks. Match every optic through Juniper's hardware compatibility tool. Confirm airflow orientation and rack exhaust path because all NFX250 models use front-to-back forced cooling.

Commissioning evidence

Verify exact S1 PID, CPU/RAM/SSD inventory, Junos/JDM version, mode, available hugepages, port state and management/console access. A successful power-on does not prove enough compute or storage for the intended VNF chain.
