EX4600-40F-AFI Hardware Identity

EX4600-40F-AFI is a Juniper EX4600 fixed-configuration Ethernet switch. Its verified hardware profile is 24 fixed SFP/SFP+ ports and four fixed QSFP+ ports; no copper PoE access ports. The complete code carries airflow-in order form. Preserve every suffix on the quote, carton and asset record.

Port and power boundary

two power supplies and five fans shipped by default for non-S model. The uplink configuration is two expansion bays for supported modules. Optics, optional uplink modules, cables and any separately ordered power or mounting items must be reconciled in the final bill of materials.

EX4600 architecture control

EX4600 acceptance should reflect a compact distribution or low-density data-center platform. Reconcile the 24 fixed SFP/SFP+ ports, four fixed QSFP+ ports, two expansion bays, both power supplies and all five fan modules. Decide whether the unit is standalone, an all-EX4600 Virtual Chassis member or part of a supported mixed design, and record the Junos-dependent role. Breakout and expansion counts are design results, not ports included automatically with the base chassis.

Order-form control 1

AC power acceptance requires the supported input range, regional cord, receptacle, circuit capacity and selected supply wattage to be documented. Where redundant supplies are used, place them on the intended independent circuits and test loss of one feed. Do not substitute a DC chassis or mix supply wattage or airflow. Retain supply serials, cord type and circuit labels with commissioning evidence.

Order-form control 2

AFI acceptance means air enters from the FRU side and exhausts through the port panel, also described as back-to-front airflow. Every installed fan and power supply must carry the matching AIR IN or AFI identity. Verify rack orientation and neighboring equipment before energizing, then record inlet temperature and photograph FRU labels. An AFO component is a blocked receiving exception.

SKU-specific acceptance

For the AC airflow-in variant, reject any AFO fan or supply and preserve photographs of all FRU labels with the serial record. For AC AFI deployment, assign separate circuits to the supplied power units, photograph blue or AIR IN labels and prove port-side exhaust clearance. Compare rack pressure and temperature before and after installation. A replacement supply must match electrical rating and airflow, not merely fit the chassis slot.

Failure domain

Define what remains online after loss of one feed, supply, fan, uplink or VC member. Test the approved failure case and retain recovery timing.

PoE load

Build a port-by-port powered-device budget with startup draw, redundancy state and spare margin. Do not equate a PoE-capable port count with enough available watts.

Virtual Chassis

Document member role, Junos release, VCP media, topology and rollback. A VC order qualifier or physical VCP does not remove software and compatibility checks.

TAA control

Keep the complete TAA-qualified order code on the quote, invoice, carton and asset record. Validate procurement eligibility with the contracting authority rather than a shortened base model.

PoE firmware

For multigigabit PoE platforms, verify Junos and PoE controller firmware before enabling higher-power modes. Test representative endpoints and record negotiated class.

Install base

Register additions and FRU changes under the correct support record. Keep serial, site, power, airflow and module inventory synchronized with the operational asset system.
