EX-SFP-GE40KT13R15 40km BX Uplink Optic

EX-SFP-GE40KT13R15 is Juniper's 1GbE 1000BASE-BX uplink-side SFP for a 40km single-fiber link. It transmits at 1310nm and receives at 1550nm through one simplex LC PC/UPC connection. Juniper identifies hardware part number 740-020425 and supports digital optical monitoring.

The remote optic must be complementary

This module is paired with EX-SFP-GE40KT15R13, whose transmit and receive wavelengths are reversed. Installing two identical 13R15 modules at opposite ends leaves both receivers listening on the wrong wavelength. Record both endpoint PIDs and fiber direction before dispatch.

40km is a reach class, not a promise

Juniper's NFX250 optical table documents -6.5 to 2dBm launch power, -23dBm minimum receiver sensitivity and -3dBm maximum input for this optic. Calculate loss from fiber length, splices, connectors and engineering margin; clean and inspect the simplex path before using transmit power alone as evidence of link health.

Host compatibility is exact

SFP form factor and 1GbE speed do not prove support in every Juniper port. Use the Hardware Compatibility Tool for the specific switch/router, interface module and Junos release. Confirm the host accepts a simplex LC BX optic and that digital diagnostics are exposed before purchase.

Turn-up record

Verify Juniper label, PID, part number, serial and wavelength direction at both ends. Capture transmit/receive optical levels, temperature and alarms after turn-up, compare them with the supported thresholds and retain the baseline for degradation monitoring.
