ACX7100-48L-DC-AI is the back-to-front airflow model

Juniper ACX7100-48L-DC-AI combines redundant DC power with Air-In cooling. Air enters through the rear field-replaceable-unit side and is exhausted through the port side. This direction is intended for rack layouts where the FRU side faces the cold-air source; it must be verified against the site's cold-aisle and hot-aisle orientation.

High-density fixed interfaces

The 1U chassis has 48 SFP56 access ports for 10, 25 and 50GbE and six QSFP56-DD uplink ports for 40, 100 and 400GbE operation. Port 47 supports 10 or 25GbE rather than 50GbE. Juniper identifies a 4.8 Tbps forwarding ASIC, a six-core control-plane CPU, 64GB memory and two 100GB SSDs.

Air-In component matching

All six fan modules and both DC PSMs must carry the matching Air-In designation. Juniper warns against mixing AI and AO components because the system raises an alarm and can overheat. A conversion to the opposite airflow requires replacing all fan and power modules together rather than changing a single FRU.

DC feed and redundancy design

The two 1600 W DC power modules are hot-removable and preinstalled. Juniper lists -48 to -60 VDC rated input and a -40 to -72 VDC operating range, with up to 27.5 A input current. Full power redundancy requires both PSMs and separate source feeds; do not land both feeds on the same input terminal.

Procurement and commissioning

Confirm the AI suffix, DC PSM labels, fan labels, conductor and breaker sizing, grounding, optics, breakout cables and feature licenses. Commissioning should test both feeds, airflow alarms, timing ports, management access and the intended Junos OS Evolved release before carrying production traffic.
