AR611-S wired S-series identity

AR611-S is a Huawei wired enterprise branch router. It is not a Cisco product and it is not the wireless AR611W-S. Huawei's official S-series table explicitly marks WLAN as unavailable on AR611-S, making the absence of radio hardware the key ordering distinction.

Wired edge layout

The unit provides one GE combo WAN and four GE electrical LAN ports that can be changed to WAN operation. Plan the optical-versus-copper combo selection, SFP compatibility, uplink redundancy and LAN segmentation before purchase. The optical and electrical sides of the combo interface cannot operate concurrently.

Why choose the wired order

Use AR611-S where branch wireless service is supplied by separate access points or is intentionally excluded. Do not quote antenna clearance, WLAN throughput or radio configuration from AR611W-S. This keeps the bill aligned with sites that need compact routing without an embedded access point.

Physical and power checks

Huawei lists 1 GB memory, 1 GB flash, one USB port, one RJ45 console, fanless cooling, a 24 W AC source, 4 W minimum and 5 W maximum power consumption. The chassis is 240 mm wide and weighs approximately 0.60 kg without packaging.

Acceptance procedure

Verify AR611-S on the label, confirm there are no WLAN antennas, inspect the combo and four copper ports, and test the selected WAN media. Validate the exact VRP release and any non-basic feature licenses against the target network before replacing an installed router.
