Plan the shared optical and copper connections

The FG-100E chassis diagram labels Ethernet ports 1 through 16 and two 1 Gbps SFP interfaces. RJ45 ports 15 and 16 share their media paths with SFP ports 1 and 2. A purchase plan should therefore assign copper or optical connectivity to each shared pair; counting all four sockets as four independent network interfaces overstates the available paths. The diagram separately identifies WAN, management, DMZ and high-availability connections.

Specify the power and console accessories

Fortinet shows an optional 12 VDC, 5 A RPS connection on this appliance. The presence of that connector does not establish that an external redundant supply is included in the offered package. Confirm the exact compatible supply and delivered accessories. The AC nameplate is 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz, 2-1 A; this is an input rating, not a measured steady-state consumption figure.

The manufacturer's packing supplement lists the console cable as optional and not included. If local CLI access forms part of acceptance, specify a suitable cable in the order. Separate firmware advice from a support entitlement

Fortinet's recommendation table, checked on 9 October 2026, lists 7.2.11 for FortiGate-100E and marks its engineering-support milestone as passed (Y). This is model-specific manufacturer guidance. A firmware recommendation does not grant downloads, establish a new support contract, or promise future fixes. Match the installed build, required functions and eligible serial-specific services before approving a replacement. Acceptance for an existing installation

Record which shared pairs use copper or SFP, the optical modules and link rates, whether an external RPS is required, and whether the console cable is supplied. Confirm the unit label, quoted condition, service eligibility and included equipment before shipment. The hardware documentation explains configuration boundaries; it is not proof of today's stock, a particular subscription term, or the accessories present in every resale package.
