Installed Device Workflow

The platform token 0401E maps to a storage-equipped E-series mid-range firewall. Capture the 401E serial, HA peer, SSD health, local logging purpose, FortiCloud account, cloud roles and report schedule.

Reconcile local and cloud retention so incident evidence has a clear authoritative copy. Review user roles, report distribution and configuration-change audit history before enabling remote administration.

Test local-to-cloud event completeness, scheduled analytics, backup restore access and HA. Security and evidence owners independently approve retention and role assignments.

For the 401E, sample the same incident window from local SSD logs and FortiGate Cloud, then document which copy governs investigation and retention. Review configuration audit entries against named cloud administrators and remove orphaned accounts. Test a backup retrieval and HA transition while comparing event continuity. The evidence owner signs retention, while the security owner separately signs remote-management roles and reports. Preserve the local export checksum, cloud archive timestamp and configuration revision in one case record. A difference between copies triggers evidence reconciliation rather than automatic deletion of either source.

Account and Dates

Before activation, match the appliance serial and FortiCloud account, confirm the intended management region, review administrator roles and define required log classes. For an HA pair, licensing and registration must be checked per device rather than assumed from the cluster name.

The DD form uses the dates authorized on the Fortinet quote. Record the exact start, end and co-termination terms; the service itself includes one-year rolling log retention while the commercial entitlement follows the authorized dates.

Fortinet maps service code 131 to FortiGate Cloud Standard. The hosted service supports centralized device management, dashboards, traffic and security analytics, scheduled reporting, configuration backup, firmware workflows and audit records. An active device registration and compatible FortiOS configuration are required.
