URL and DNS Operations

The platform token 00306 identifies a diskless E-series mid-range boundary. Map the 300E serial, protected zones, sixteen copper and sixteen SFP paths, HA peer, DNS resolver path and central log repository. Keep this record distinct from storage-equipped 301E.

Review URL categories and DNS rules by zone owner so user web access, server egress and management traffic do not share unexamined exceptions. Preserve the evidence externally because this model uses the diskless workflow.

Test representative allowed and blocked destinations from each material zone, verify the correct policy and category were applied and confirm logs reach the external collector. An exception needs a hostname or category, owner, business reason and expiry date.

The 300E governance file should pair each protected zone with its approved recursive resolver and central evidence source. Test direct IP access, alternate DNS and category overrides to reveal bypass paths. When a business application needs an exception, use the narrowest hostname or category and preserve the external event before and after the change. Closure requires the application owner, network owner and logging owner to agree that the intended flow works and no unrelated zone inherited the bypass.
