FAP-431G-B is the country-code B order form of the Fortinet FortiAP 431G high-performance indoor Wi-Fi 6E access point. Fortinet documents three Wi-Fi radios plus BLE, internal antennas, 4x4 MU-MIMO operation and two 100/1000/2500/5000Base-T Ethernet ports.

Order-code boundary

Fortinet's official ordering guidance uses FAP-431G-X and instructs buyers to replace X with the country code. Confirm the current deployment-country mapping and permitted RF operation with Fortinet before ordering. Do not substitute FAP-431G-I or another suffix solely because the base hardware name matches.

High-availability switch migration

Treat the B-coded AP as part of a switch-migration runbook. Reserve two multigigabit ports, define whether one 802.3bt feed or dual 802.3at feeds will be used, and confirm that upstream policy permits the required management and client VLANs.

Move one AP first, prove link negotiation on both Ethernet ports, power resilience, controller discovery and representative client traffic, then compare the physical label, switch descriptions and controller inventory before wider migration.

Power and software evidence

Fortinet lists one 802.3bt feed as the default full-power method and dual 802.3at current sharing as another full-power path. Lower-power inputs can restrict radios, transmit power or USB operation. Match the FortiAP firmware with the applicable FortiOS compatibility matrix and record the chosen power mode rather than assuming full operation from link-up alone.
