Preserve the E-Series identity on the order

The official Cisco part-number table lists the E-Series data bundle separately from the similarly named non-E order. Similar included component names are not a reason to substitute the chassis or collapse the two ordering identities.

Document a data-access replacement

Prepare an interface schedule from the installed equipment, including endpoint connections and the uplink arrangement that must be preserved. Obtain the proposed chassis and module labels, then check the combination and software release before accepting a substitute. Do not assume that a generic description of an enterprise switch establishes the interface speeds or features required by the project.

This data bundle should not be ordered as though it were the V-suffix PoE package. If the project now includes powered devices, make that changed requirement explicit and ask for a separately qualified design rather than inferring capabilities from a shared chassis family.

Separate replacement cost from operating risk

Request the unit condition, included accessories, test evidence and support exclusions alongside the equipment quote. An inexpensive spare may still require configuration work, a maintenance window and a rollback unit. Agree who performs those tasks and how management access and required interfaces will be checked after installation. The linked notice supplies historical lifecycle context, not a present-day support commitment.
