SLASR903-M= Metro Services Paper PAK
SLASR903-M= is Cisco's physical paper-PAK form for the ASR 903 Metro Services base tier. It enables the foundational Layer 2 service set on a compatible router. It is not the Metro IP SKU, not an ASR 9000 device and does not include any chassis or interface hardware.
Metro Services functional boundary
Cisco lists hierarchical QoS, Layer 2 802.1D/802.1Q, Ethernet Virtual Circuits, Ethernet OAM, MST, REP, Synchronous Ethernet and IPv4/IPv6 host connectivity in this tier. Dynamic IP routing, PIM, BFD and VRF Lite are additions of Metro IP Services; MPLS and pseudowire functions require Metro Aggregation Services.
Do not confuse base and upgrade PIDs
SLASR903-M= is the base Metro Services paper PAK. SLASR903-M-I= is a separate Metro-to-Metro-IP upgrade, while L-SLASR903-M= is the electronic-delivery equivalent. Validate the current license tier and the desired end state so the order does not duplicate an installed entitlement or omit a required upgrade path.
Legacy activation controls
The physical PID ended sale September 15, 2017. Record the target ASR 903 serial, IOS XE version, PAK status and licensing workflow before purchase. After activation, verify the reported Metro Services level and exercise EVC, OAM, QoS, REP or timing functions actually required by the deployment.
