N3K-C3264Q 10/40GbE Fixed Platform
N3K-C3264Q is a 2RU Nexus 3264Q with 64 fixed QSFP+ ports supporting 10GbE or 40GbE operation, plus two SFP+ ports documented in Cisco's hardware guide. It also provides dedicated RJ-45 management, RS-232 console and USB interfaces.

Cisco documents 5.12Tbps switching capacity, forwarding up to 3.8bpps, line-rate Layer 2/3 traffic and 515-700ns latency. The platform uses a 16MB switch ASIC buffer, so it should not be described as the 48MB-buffer N3K-C3164Q-40GE despite their similar 64-port QSFP+ front panels.
Power and reversible airflow selection
The chassis supports port-side intake or port-side exhaust builds and two power-supply slots. One supported AC or DC supply can operate the switch and a second can provide redundancy. Cisco's ordering table includes 650W AC intake and exhaust PIDs; confirm exact AC/DC type, airflow suffix, fan direction and cords from the received labels.
Optics, breakout and software validation
Build a port-level matrix for native 40GbE, 10GbE mode, supported breakout adapters, the two SFP+ interfaces and peer-device compatibility. Validate every optic or DAC against Cisco's compatibility data for the exact NX-OS release. A QSFP+ mechanical fit does not prove supported mode or reach.
Lifecycle and service decision
