C9407R Spare Chassis PID

C9407R= is the orderable spare form of the seven-slot C9407R chassis, identified by Cisco's trailing equals-sign convention. Order boundary: The trailing '=' is part of the procurement identity. Do not silently replace it with the configured-system C9407R PID, and do not assume a production supervisor, cards, licenses or power BOM transfers with the spare frame.

Capacity and selection decision

Before a chassis replacement, export serial, supervisor, line-card, power, fan, license and software inventory from the failed system. Build a move plan that preserves slot assignments, grounding, configuration and Smart Account records while distinguishing reusable FRUs from chassis-specific items.

Power and software configuration

Catalyst 9400 power supplies, regional cords, supervisor, line cards, Network Stack tier and Cisco DNA or Catalyst subscription selections are configurable order items. Calculate switching, PoE, redundancy, facility circuits and cooling from the final CCW BOM; an empty bay count is not a delivered supply count.

Receiving and commissioning evidence

Inspect the spare chassis and accessories before the outage, retain the exact C9407R= packing record, and verify rack fit. After migration, reconcile every moved serial, supervisor state, module status, power redundancy, alarms and license registration.

Lifecycle-ready asset record

Store the final PID, serials, slot map, IOS XE release, entitlement term, Smart Account, power calculation, optics and configuration backup together. Future expansion must be checked against supervisor bandwidth, supported line-card combinations and the active software release.
