C9200L-48PXG-4X-A High-Density Access Layout

C9200L-48PXG-4X-A is the 48-port PXG variant with twelve multigigabit PoE+ interfaces and thirty-six 1G PoE+ interfaces. Four fixed 10G uplinks are represented by 4X; the final A denotes Network Advantage. The full ordering code is therefore required to distinguish port density, uplink type and license tier.

Endpoint allocation for 48 ports

Use an endpoint schedule to assign the twelve multigigabit interfaces only where negotiated rates above 1G are supported and useful. The remaining thirty-six 1G ports can serve ordinary access devices. This allocation prevents a design from assuming that all forty-eight copper ports have identical speed capability.

Four-link uplink design

The four fixed 10G uplinks allow a different topology from the two-port 25G 2Y model. Document whether links are used for a port channel, split across upstream devices or reserved for migration. Validate Cisco-supported transceivers or cables, upstream configuration and oversubscription against the real endpoint traffic profile.

Dense PoE commissioning

A 48-port PoE+ closet needs measured endpoint demand, startup sequencing and power-failure behavior. Record the installed power supplies and the power available to endpoints after reserving chassis operation and redundancy. Test the loss of one supply under representative load rather than relying on aggregate nameplate values.

Operational records

Preserve the Network Advantage entitlement, software subscription, Smart Account assignment, IOS XE image and StackWise-80 member list. Before adding this unit to an existing stack, compare hardware support and software requirements for every member. Fixed uplinks cannot be replaced with a Catalyst 9300 network module.
