Start with the D-domain installation requirement

C9130AXI-EWC-D is the internal-antenna Catalyst 9130 AP order with Embedded Wireless Controller. Cisco currently recommends the D domain for the C9130AXI platform in India. The AP Channels recommendation expressly does not establish compliance status; validate the exact ordered PID and intended country in the Product Approvals Database before deployment.

Choose an embedded or centrally managed deployment

EWC runs the wireless controller function on the access point. The lifecycle bulletin lists this exact EWC-D PID and says affected APs can be converted to lightweight/CAPWAP operation. When evaluating that path, check the controller and AP release compatibility and use the hardware lifecycle for the converted AP. Do not assume a quotation includes a physical wireless controller or all required software rights.

Match the uplink and antenna design

The 9130AXI platform uses integrated antennas and a single multigigabit RJ-45 Ethernet port supporting 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps and 5 Gbps. It is an indoor model, rather than an AXE model requiring an external antenna arrangement. A 5-Gbps interface is a link capability, not a measured client throughput or WAN speed guarantee.

Review reduced-power and temperature operation

The C9130AXI data sheet lists 802.3af operation with 1x1 on both bands, a 1G link and no USB, instead of full-radio operation. It also says ambient temperature above 40 degrees Celsius causes the 5-GHz radio to shift to 4x4 and Ethernet to 1G while USB remains enabled. Validate site temperature and negotiated power rather than carrying over full-power capacity figures.

Distinguish EWC sale and support dates

Cisco stopped selling this EWC order on November 29, 2024. The last applicable EWC support date is November 30, 2029 under eligible active-contract or warranty terms. The new service-attachment cutoff was November 29, 2025. A resale listing does not prove that a new Cisco support contract can now be attached; confirm entitlement and the offered unit before ordering.
