AIR-CAP3702E-C-K9 Overview

AIR-CAP3702E-C-K9 External-Antenna C-Domain AP

AIR-CAP3702E-C-K9 is Cisco's C regulatory-domain Aironet 3702E. It is a controller-based indoor access point with four external RP-TNC antenna connectors, dual-band radios, 4x4 MIMO with three spatial streams, 802.11ac operation on 5 GHz and Cisco CleanAir spectrum intelligence.

External antennas are a separate design decision

The E suffix identifies the external-antenna chassis. Cisco's installation guide lists four antenna connectors and compatible dual-band antenna families, but the exact antenna pattern, gain, cable loss and mounting hardware must be selected for the surveyed location. Do not assume that antennas are included with this AP or substitute the integrated-antenna AIR-CAP3702I-H-K9.

C-domain identity must match the destination

The C suffix is part of the regulatory PID. Confirm the physical label, destination-country approval and current Cisco compliance record before deployment. The wireless LAN controller country configuration, allowed channels and transmit power must agree with that approval; enclosure similarity does not make another regulatory-domain AP interchangeable.

Controller acceptance before shipment

The AIR-CAP ordering form depends on a compatible Cisco wireless LAN controller. Record controller model and release, AP image, CAPWAP join result, regulatory state, radio operation, CleanAir visibility, Ethernet link and PoE negotiation. This exact PID is not a factory Mobility Express order.

Retired platform and migration evidence

Cisco ended sale of the Aironet 3700 series on 30 April 2019 and ended support on 30 April 2024. Cisco's exact lifecycle table maps this C-domain external-antenna PID to AIR-AP3802E-C-K9 as its historical replacement; that 3800-series product also has a lifecycle, so a current purchase needs a supported Catalyst architecture review.

Official evidence: Cisco Aironet 3700 data sheet, Cisco antenna-connector and regulatory-domain guide, Cisco exact PID lifecycle and replacement table and Cisco wireless compliance lookup.
