AIR-AP3802P-T-K9C Order Identity

AIR-AP3802P-T-K9C is a Cisco Aironet 3800 Series, controller-based 802.11ac Wave 2 access point order. This exact SKU is a 3802P external-antenna access point, carries regulatory-domain token T, and uses a configurable single-unit order.

Antenna and quantity boundary

External antenna system required; verify the exact Cisco-supported antenna and connector arrangement. Treat the antenna design as an engineered item: retain the selected antenna, cable path, mounting method and regulatory approval with the access-point order.

This K9 order form represents one access point; antennas, mounting choices, power source and controller dependencies remain separate unless the authorized bill of materials states otherwise.

The C suffix marks a configurable order form. The final Cisco quotation must preserve the selected regulatory domain and any configuration choices; the suffix does not make the unit globally deployable.

Regulatory-domain control

Power budget

Confirm the switch port's negotiated PoE mode, available power, cable length and LLDP behavior. Keep the measured power result with commissioning evidence. Measure the power state after both radios and production features are active, not only while the unit is idle. Record switch model, port, power class, negotiated result and any feature reduction shown by the controller. If an injector is proposed, verify its Cisco support and place it in the maintained bill of materials.

Multigigabit uplink

The 3800 Series supports multigigabit Ethernet. Verify the switch port, cabling category, negotiated rate and error counters instead of assuming a 2.5 or 5 Gbps link. Commissioning should preserve the negotiated Ethernet rate, cable-test result, packet errors and switch configuration. Where the access switch is limited to 1 Gbps, state that design choice explicitly instead of presenting multigigabit capability as achieved throughput. Recheck negotiation after patch-cord or switch changes.

Mounting inventory

List the ceiling or wall bracket, enclosure, safety restraint and access requirements. Receiving should reject a mechanically incomplete deployment kit. Receiving should identify the bracket and any above-ceiling, wall, enclosure or seismic requirement before scheduling installers. Photograph the mounting label and cable entry after installation, and record access constraints for replacement. Missing mechanical parts should be resolved as a bill-of-material exception, not hidden in the AP description.

Serial registration

Capture each serial number against the site, controller and asset owner. For multi-unit orders, reconcile every chassis rather than recording only the carton SKU. For each received unit, preserve the carton reference, chassis serial, MAC address, deployment site and controller assignment. A ten-unit pack needs ten reconciled asset rows and exception handling for shortages or substitutions. This control prevents a pack-level SKU from obscuring which physical AP is covered by support or replacement work.

Site acceptance

Commission association, authentication, roaming, uplink negotiation and monitoring at the intended location. Preserve results that can be compared after later changes. The handover record should contain client authentication, DHCP and DNS checks, roaming evidence, controller alarms, switch-port counters and a monitoring owner. Test from representative client types in the intended coverage area. Acceptance is incomplete when the AP merely joins the controller but user and operational paths remain unverified.

Change control

Define the staging date, installation window, rollback owner and validation threshold before the AP is joined to a production controller. The change record should list staging evidence, production window, responsible installer, rollback decision and success criteria. Preserve the previous controller or AP state needed for recovery. After the window, close temporary credentials and compare monitoring, authentication and RF results with the approved baseline before declaring completion.

Lifecycle and migration evidence

Cisco's support site lists an end-of-life announcement for the Aironet 3800 Series. Confirm current support dates, controller compatibility and the approved replacement path before treating available stock as suitable for a new deployment.
