AIR-ANT58G9VOA-N Legacy 5.8 GHz Bridge Omni

AIR-ANT58G9VOA-N is Cisco's 5.8 GHz, 9 dBi omnidirectional mast-mount antenna for legacy Aironet 1400 bridge systems with the appropriate N-type connection. It is not a dual-band indoor access-point antenna.

Point-to-multipoint role

Cisco positions this antenna for outdoor short-range point-to-multipoint bridging. Its documented pattern is 360 degrees horizontally and 6 degrees vertically, with vertical polarization. That narrow vertical beam requires careful mast height, plumb alignment and remote-site elevation planning even though azimuth coverage is omnidirectional.

Legacy 1400 connector boundary

The ordering guide lists AIR-ANT58G9VOA-N alongside the 5.8 GHz antenna options for Cisco Aironet 1400 Series bridges. Verify that the bridge variant exposes the required N-type interface and inspect any jumper, grounding and surge-protection components separately. Do not adapt the antenna to a 2.4 GHz or RP-TNC radio based only on connector availability.

Receiving and outdoor installation

Confirm the exact PID, N-type connector condition, mast hardware and the supplied jumper before field dispatch. Inspect for water ingress, corrosion and radome damage. The antenna does not include a bridge, power injector, grounding block, lightning arrestor or site-specific mounting structure.

Obsolete lifecycle

Cisco ended sale on 25 July 2014 and ended all support on 31 July 2019. The bulletin states that no direct replacement was available at announcement. A continued installation therefore needs a documented spare strategy, regulatory/RF review and migration to a currently supported bridge and antenna system.
