A9K-24X10GE-1G-FC 24-Port Flexible Consumption Line Card

A9K-24X10GE-1G-FC provides twenty-four dual-rate 10GE/1GE ports for Cisco ASR 9000 modular systems. It is the Flexible Consumption version: hardware port availability, forwarding capacity and licensed software capacity are separate facts that must all match the deployment.

100G is the initial FCM entitlement

Cisco specifies 200Gbps line-rate forwarding with 240:200 oversubscription for this 24-port card. The FCM data sheet lists 100G enabled out of 240G at the base hardware tier. Additional capacity requires the appropriate Cisco RTU or subscription entitlement; inserting twenty-four 10GE optics does not automatically raise licensed throughput.

Deploy only in a supported system

The A9K-24X10GE-1G-FC supports ASR 9006, 9010, 9904, 9906, 9910, 9912 and 9922 according to Cisco's exact compatibility table. Qualify route processor, fabric, IOS XR and optics together. The line card accepts supported SFP/SFP+ media and certain mixed-speed layouts, but every optic and software combination still needs Cisco validation.

Capacity expansion workflow

Document current 100G consumption, required target bandwidth and feature tier before purchasing software. Edge Essentials and Advantage capacity products are sold in defined increments and subscription ranges. Verify Smart Account ownership, term dates, portability and compliance reporting, then test throughput and oversubscription behavior after any entitlement change.

End-of-sale procurement

The exact PID reached end of sale on 15 June 2024. Cisco's bulletin sets 30 June 2029 as the last support date and names A9K-4HG-FLEX-FC as replacement. Check active support, IOS XR release lifecycle, hardware condition and migration optics rather than presenting it as a current new-build default.
