Cisco A900-IMA8T is an eight-port 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface module using RJ45 copper connections. It is a chassis component rather than a standalone ASR 9000 router or an optical SFP module. Confirm the host router, Route Switch Processor and intended slot before ordering an expansion or replacement.

Check the processor-specific slot rules

Cisco’s ASR 903 hardware guide lists this module in the A900-RSP2A-128 compatibility table and places it in slots 3 through 5 for A900-RSP2A-64. For RSP3, the guide excludes A900-IMA8T when the service-offload feature is enabled. Verify the exact processor, slot assignment and software configuration instead of applying a blanket family compatibility claim.

Record the hardware revision during replacement

Cisco Field Notice FN-63716 documents that revision V02 does not boot with certain older IOS XE releases. Check the version label and the notice’s affected-release list before replacing an installed module, then validate a supported software path for the actual router. The historical remediation versions in that notice should not be mistaken for a current software recommendation.

Plan around the announced lifecycle

Cisco lists A900-IMA8T and the separate A900-IMA8T= spare order in its ASR 900 retirement notice. End of sale is scheduled for March 31, 2027 and last support for March 31, 2032, subject to applicable entitlement. These are published lifecycle milestones, not a guarantee of stock, a transferable license or coverage for a specific offered unit.
