FG-601E Exact Hardware Identity

FG-601E is the storage-bearing FortiGate 600E Series model. Fortinet's official CLI reference identifies two 240 GB SSDs, NP6 and CP9 acceleration, two 10GE SFP+ slots, eight GE SFP slots and ten GE RJ45 ports. These facts distinguish it from a generic firewall page.

Storage and evidence retention

Inventory both SSDs, verify FortiOS health and retention settings, and configure an approved external log destination. Test storage alerts and export continuity independently. Two drives do not justify an unverified RAID statement; record the actual FortiOS presentation and recovery procedure.

Port-map acceptance

Reconcile HA and management copper ports, data ports 1-8, SFP positions 9-12, sniffer interfaces S1/S2, virtual-wire interfaces VW1/VW2 and 10GE X1/X2 with the design. Fortinet documents that management is outside the NP6 path, so test out-of-band access separately from accelerated data traffic.

Deployment controls

Record optics, peer ports, software, licenses, configuration backup, HA state, log ownership, power and airflow. Validate real inspection performance with the enabled services and traffic mix rather than treating data-sheet maxima as a guarantee.
