FG-40F Base Appliance Identity

FG-40F is the wired, non-cellular base appliance in the FortiGate 40F Series. Fortinet's official data sheet lists five GE RJ45 interfaces: one WAN, three internal and one FortiLink-capable port. It must not inherit the modem, SIM or antenna statements of FG-40F-3G4G.

Wired branch edge acceptance

Map the WAN handoff, three internal segments and FortiLink role before staging. Record switch peer, VLAN ownership, addressing, DHCP or routing responsibility and the management recovery path. Confirm whether FortiLink is actually required; otherwise document the port's approved standalone use.

Logging and power continuity

Define an external log destination and alert for interrupted delivery because the exact SKU does not establish an onboard log disk. Inventory the supplied adapter, input circuit and optional rack tray. Test configuration restore and WAN recovery after a controlled power interruption.

Procurement boundary

This SKU identifies one FG-40F appliance, not an HA pair and not a security-service bundle. Licenses, FortiGuard services, support, rack accessories and redundant appliances require separate line items. Verify the supported FortiOS release before production.
