FG-3301E is the storage-equipped FortiGate 3300E model

Fortinet FortiGate FG-3301E is a 2RU data-center security appliance in the FortiGate 3300E Series. The current 60E Series category is incorrect. Compared with FG-3300E, the FG-3301E adds two 1 TB onboard SSDs for local storage requirements.

Mixed copper and pluggable connectivity

The chassis provides four 40 GE QSFP+ slots, fourteen general-purpose and two HA 25 GE SFP28/10 GE SFP+/GE SFP slots, four 10 GE RJ45 ports, twelve GE RJ45 data ports and two GE RJ45 management/HA ports. Build the optic, DAC, breakout and copper bill of materials from the actual topology; the chassis SKU alone does not supply every required media component.

Performance boundary

Fortinet publishes up-to figures of 160 Gbps for large-packet firewall throughput, 27 Gbps for IPS, 23 Gbps for NGFW and 17 Gbps for threat protection. These figures use defined test conditions and are not an application-throughput guarantee. Capacity planning must account for enabled inspection, logging, SSL traffic, policy complexity, packet size and HA design.

Storage, power and rack acceptance

The FG-3301E includes two 1 TB SSDs, two short-range 10 GE SFP+ transceivers and hot-swappable redundant AC power supplies. Confirm SSD health, PSU redundancy, front-to-back airflow, rack depth, rail kit, power circuits and transceiver requirements. The official maximum power figure for FG-3301E is 617 W.

Migration and licensing checks

Confirm supported FortiOS, required FortiCare and FortiGuard subscriptions, HA peer model, configuration limits and feature dependencies before purchase. Back up and review the existing policy set, then test management, HA, storage, optics, copper ports and failover under representative traffic before cutover.
