FG-2000E hardware acceptance

FG-2000E provides six accelerated 10 GE SFP+ slots and 32 accelerated GE RJ45 data ports. Fortinet also lists two management/HA ports, a 480 GB SSD and two included short-range 10 GE SFP+ transceivers. This port map must not be replaced with the 2500E layout.

Six-slot optical design

Map each SFP+ slot to the intended network zone, optic, fiber pair and peer port. Preserve wavelength, reach, serial, optical levels and the two included SR modules. Record unused slots as reserved capacity so later cabling does not bypass the approved segmentation design.

GE density and management separation

Reconcile all 32 GE RJ45 data interfaces plus the management and HA ports against FortiOS names, switch ports and diagrams. Test out-of-band administration independently from production traffic and retain a controlled HA failure result.

Power, storage and rack acceptance

The 2000E is a 37.0-lb 2RU chassis with front-to-back forced airflow, hot-swappable redundant supplies and published 280W average / 430W maximum consumption. Verify both feeds, rail support, SSD health, logging retention and thermal clearance before production.

Performance evidence

Fortinet publishes 11.5 Gbps IPS, 9 Gbps NGFW and 5.4 Gbps threat-protection results under stated test conditions. Size the real deployment with traffic mix, SSL inspection, logging and policy complexity rather than treating laboratory maxima as a guarantee.

Related chassis comparison

FG-2500E with ten standard and two bypass 10 GE ports is not a port-for-port substitute.
