FC-10-0400E-301-02-DD RMA Identity

FC-10-0400E-301-02-DD is a per-device Secure RMA Service entitlement associated with an existing FortiGate 400E. It does not include a new firewall, base FortiCare contract or FortiGuard security subscription.

Service Boundary

Fortinet states that Secure RMA allows the customer not to return defective hardware, protecting data within the customer premises. It is a per-device add-on available with FortiCare support and can be combined with Priority RMA where eligible. Secure RMA is a data-custody option, not a firewall appliance or an unconditional expedited-delivery promise.

Document the organization’s media-retention, destruction, legal-hold and chain-of-custody requirements before activation. Identify who authorizes nonreturn and how the failed asset is quarantined and disposed of. If faster replacement is also required, verify a separate eligible Priority RMA service rather than assuming Secure RMA changes delivery speed.

Platform Acceptance

The ordering token 0400E identifies a diskless E-series mid-range platform. Capture the central event path, HA peer, interface map and recovery owner. Do not transfer storage-specific procedures from FortiGate 401E; this exact serial needs its own replacement and configuration-restore record.

For the 400E, preserve central-log reachability, interface ownership, HA pairing, configuration backup and the team that validates policy behavior after replacement. Do not import storage or media-custody assumptions from 401E. The incident record should define how the diskless node is rebuilt, which routing adjacencies are checked and what evidence proves successful failback. This gives each RMA service a practical acceptance test for the exact platform.

The 400E recovery gate is correct routing, policy enforcement, HA state and external log continuity. Closeout evidence should show that the diskless node uses the intended configuration revision and that no 401E storage checklist was applied by mistake.

Quote and Coverage Check

The DD suffix does not prove a contract duration. Preserve the authorized start and end dates, covered address, serial, FortiCare owner, service geography and any co-termination terms from the Fortinet quote. Confirm the prerequisite support contract before accepting this add-on.
