FC-10-0040F-928-02-60 is an electronic Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) service entitlement for an existing FortiGate 40F. It does not include a FortiGate appliance, replacement chassis or physical shipment.

Bundle Boundary

Fortinet describes ATP as foundational protection for network and file threats. The current bundle includes intrusion prevention, anti-malware with antivirus and cloud-based sandboxing, application control and FortiCare Premium. Web and DNS filtering are UTP capabilities and must not be assumed from this ATP SKU.

Platform Acceptance

FortiGate 40F is a compact, diskless F-series branch platform. Document its central log destination, WAN recovery owner and exact asset serial rather than treating the service as hardware stock. The branch acceptance file should identify primary and backup circuits, remote-management path, outage escalation contact, enabled IPS and anti-malware profiles, and the off-box event-retention service. Keep the 40F record separate from storage-equipped or larger branch families. Before each activation period, reconcile FortiCare ownership with the site inventory and verify that this branch will remain deployed through the requested entitlement end date. Because this platform is recorded as diskless, confirm the external log and evidence-retention path separately from ATP coverage.

Branch evidence should include the site code, circuit inventory, remote-access method and destination used for security events. The small form factor does not remove the need for an accountable recovery path; ATP activation should be accepted only after those remote-operability facts agree with the asset register.

5 Year Contract Control

For a sixty-month order, require a documented lifecycle decision before approval. Compare the five-year end date with firmware eligibility, hardware support, depreciation and the funded replacement roadmap. Keep annual checkpoints for asset location, FortiCare ownership, enabled services and continuing operational need; a long commercial term is not evidence that the appliance remains suitable for five years. Bind the order to the exact appliance serial, FortiCare account, customer region and existing contract record.

The long-horizon acceptance pack should include lifecycle sign-off, annual service-fit reviews, a migration funding trigger and a process for handling early retirement. Record how unused term risk was evaluated before purchase, because extended coverage can create stranded value when the protected platform is refreshed ahead of schedule.
