Match copper server connections to the T model

S4148T-ON is the Dell PowerSwitch configuration with forty-eight fixed 10GBase-T RJ45 ports. It also provides two QSFP+ and four QSFP28 ports. Choose this copper-facing layout when the connected equipment and installed cabling call for RJ45 data connections; S4148F-ON has a different SFP+ access layout.

Plan optical uplinks separately from copper access

The two QSFP+ cages and four QSFP28 cages are additional to the forty-eight copper ports. Confirm the cable or transceiver requirements for each uplink. The configuration table is a hardware inventory, not a promise that optical modules, breakout assemblies or a particular network operating-system license accompany every offer.

Check the complete cooling and power variant

Both normal and reverse airflow appear in Dell's configuration table, with two AC or DC power supplies and four fan trays in the documented assembly. Confirm which power type and airflow direction the offered unit has before allocating rack power and cooling. A matching S4148T-ON model label alone is not enough to settle those options.

Separate commissioning access from user traffic

A dedicated RJ45 Gigabit management connection is listed alongside a micro-USB-B console and USB type-A port. Reserve those interfaces for their documented management and local-access roles when planning the installation. Keep them separate from the count of forty-eight 10GBase-T switching ports.
